[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The battle for honours in the 2015 running of the Banna Beach Resort Kerry Mini Stages Rally is likely to be a hotly contested affair with many top crews from around Ireland entering the season closer.
Last year’s winner Daniel Cronin returns to try make it two in a row in his Subaru Impreza WRC with Killarney navigator Shane Buckley on the notes once again. The Cork/Kerry pairing have not had the best run of luck lately but will be hoping to overturn this on November 8th.
Limerick’s Ed O’Callaghan will be the hot favourite to take the win from Cronin, coming very close in previous years. He will be certainly one to watch over the fast flowing stages near Causeway and Ballyduff.
Joining O’Callaghan are some of the quickest 2wd men in the country at the moment including Barry Ryan with Limerick’s Keith Moriarty navigating, the Kerry pairing of Fergus O’Meara/Brian Doherty and numerous other Escort drivers like Trevor Mulligan, Tom Relihan, Paul Purtill & John Hendy in his distinctive BMW to name a few. Any of these drivers cannot be ruled out for a win or podium result at the very least. The 4wd entry is even more impressive hosting such names at Stephen McCann (Evo 9), Shane Maguire (Evo 9), Pat Kelly (Impreza N11), Alan O’Callaghan (Impreza N8), Eamon Daly (Evo 9) & David Guest (Evo 9).
The rally gets under way at 8.30am from the Banna Beach Hotel, just outside Ardfert, and competitors face 6 special stages and nearly 90 km of competitive action over a tight loop of classic North Kerry roads. The 2015 running of the popular end-of-season event will have its service park in the Ballyheigue Beach car park with the first car due back on the podium at Banna just before 4.30pm.
