The April 6 event is the second round of both the Dunlop Irish National Championship and the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship.

Organiser, Kerry Motor Cub, is offering over 140 competitive kilometres over some new and some more familiar popular rally roads in the North Kerry area for an entry fee of 499 euros.

Once again the rally will be based at the Fel’s Point Hotel which has served as the home of Kerry’s longest running rally for the last eight years.

The hotel’s top class facilities and conference rooms means it is well-equipped to cater for the large groups of spectators and competitors expected in the town during the first weekend in April.

The large carpark at the front of the hotel serves as the event’s central service park and can easily accommodate the 150 or so cars and their additional support vehicles for the weekend.

Already there has been plenty of overseas interest in the event with Welsh events-winner Hugh Hunter committing to the national series for the first time alongside several of his countrymen.
Defending national champion Declan Boyle, the winner of the opening round in Mayo at the weekend is one of the first to enter the event, as is Mayo runner-up Roy White.

Newly appointed clerk of the course Jonathan O’Shea said: “We are well ahead of schedule in terms of organising the event and thank residents of the stages for allowing us permission to close the roads for the day. Events like this bring enormous financial benefit to Tralee and its hinterlands and, while Kerry Motor Club is a volunteer organisation we would be lucky to break even, I appeal on the business community of Tralee and surrounding areas to get behind the event. Any contribution, no matter how small will ensure events like these can keep happening.”

The rally will enjoy massive local and international media attention with Kerry Radio committing to regular live bulletins on the day while Motors TV and TG4 will ensure thousands of motorsport fans at home and abroad will be able to see the event thanks to TV productions company On the Limit Sports’ attendance at the event.
