April 13th was the opening round of the 2014 Kerry Motor Club Autosolo Championship sponsored by online electrical suppliers, TradeKit. It proved to be a hotly contested affair with a mere 2.2 seconds separating first and second place. Many favored reigning Autosolo Champion Lukasz Czapnik in his Fiat Seicento to take overall victory but, he had to settle for 2nd overall as he was outpaced by Robert Beamish in his Mini. Kerry Motor Club competitor, Mike Dennehy claimed the final podium place in his Toyota Starlet having been away from the sport for a time. Causeways Maurice ‘Max’ McElligott took the class A win and Davis Croston (Cork) won Class B. It was a great day out for new competitors with Limerick’s Steven Guerin winning the Novice Class followed by Causeway’s Kevin Guerin. Ballymac’s Claire McCarthy was also enjoying her first competitive drive, winning Class G, the Ladies class.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1418767239165{padding-left: 100px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

Report

A a bitterly cold & windy day saw the conclusion of the 2014 TradeKit Kerry Motor Club Autosolo Championship at Ballybeggan Park. Cork Motor Club Member Robert Beamish, outlined his Championship winning credentials by securing his 4th outright win of the year in his Mini, making it a clean sweep of all 4 rounds. Kerry’s own Mike Dennehy made a great return to Autosolo’s in 2014 by securing 2nd overall on the day and 2nd overall in the Championship. The final podium place proved eventful with it only being decided on a tie-break decision. Both Cork’s David Croston & Kerry’s Anthony O Carroll finishing the year on the same points, Croston taking the 3rd spot by way of a better finishing record. O Carroll would have to settle for 1st in class in the highly competitive Class B, this only 12 months on from having won the Novice Championship. 2014 has proved to be a great starting year for a number of novice competitors with Limerick’s Steven Guerin putting in some fine driving displays which secured him not only the Novice Perpetual Shield but also a fine 8th overall in the Championship. Daniel Murphy & Kevin Guerin secured 2nd & 3rd overall Novice positions respectably.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1418772593025{padding-left: 100px !important;}”][vc_column_text]
